The book has two sides: the side A is for the children and contains tales and nonsense; the side B is for parents and contains other articles.

The tales speak about a prince without an heir to the Crown, penguins’ frozen eggs, babies born under Brussels sprout, ducklings not ugly but very special, the life in an ice building and the story of an ancient world named The country of PMA (pma is the italian word for ART). Serenella little pheasant is a female of pheasant which can’t produce eggs and asks some eggs to another female of bird!

Do the assisted conception’s parents tell their children who were born thanks to assisted conception how they have been conceived? If the answer is yes, at what age? The survey, performed on the website Mammeonline.net, tries to answer these questions; the survey introduces the beautiful tales and nonsense rhymes that the parents invented to tell their children about their particular birth.

Some children were born thanks to the gift of a spermatozoon or a oocyte, others thanks to the chance to cryoconserving an embryo, others thanks to the meeting of the mother and the father in a test-tube, but, in any case, the message of our tales is that they were born thanks to the extraordinary love of their parents. The children, reading a tale or listening a nonsene rhyme, make friends with nice characters who help them to understand the extraordinary mystery of their birth.

The book also contains an introduction of the sociologist Dr. Marina Mengarelli Flamigni and an interesting text of the psychologist Dr. Giovanni Micioni.

This is not a book of magic, though sometimes a powerful spell would be necessary to understand and solve children’s difficulties at school and in their lives. Little Lizard loves helping kids who are living stressful periods, letting them know that children are not all the same and that every single child is special.

This book is written by three mums, two of them are teachers. It was thought for children with specific learning disabilities (SLD), even for those who are still unaware of it; but it’ll be helpful even for those pupils who, without being dyslexic, dysgraphic or dyscalculic,  are simply less good in doing something.

It’s also suitable for all the children to understand that their schoolmate doesn’t hate maths or the reason why their best friend is more keen on an exercise of dictation than copying a text, but above all to know that understanding your friends is really very important because it makes you feel closer. And obviously it’s a book suitable for adults, both because even adults sometimes need a help to understand the younger ones and also because at certain times they may need some extra strategies to support their children.

Last but not least this book will be a useful instrument to help teachers work with greater affection and more consciousness that some children need to be understood and helped in the difficulties that come from SLD.

This book, thought for children with wonderful coloured illustrations, is written with typographic devices which make reading easier.
